Safari Tip : Always check your shoes

Often while out in the bush, creatures big and small (mostly small) can seek out warm and dark places to find refuge for the night – especially those such as spiders, scorpions and snakes. One of the more popular places is the inside of shoes – and if they are left to stand outside at night this will most likely become the ideal habitat for unwelcome guests.

EXTRA TIPS

Footwear for Camping while on a Safari


If you`ll prefer to camp while on a safari, you should pack a pair of flip flops to use while showering. Your feet will thank you when using the communal showers.You can also wear flip flops around camp, but always bear in mind that there might be lots of thorns around, And some of the thorns are pretty long and thick and can easily puncture through the flip flop and into your feet.

Staying at a Lodge?


If you are splurging and treating yourself to a nice lodge stay, you might want to give your dusty sandals a rest and wear something more fancy for dinner time. A pair of black or brown shoes/sandals go with everything and you can also wear them if you go out into town. To minimize your luggage bulk try to choose shoes that can serve more than one purpose!

Trip Report: Kilimanjaro Western Breach Route

  The Western Breach is a gap in the summit wall on the western side of Kibo that was caused by lava flow hundreds of thousands of years ago. It provides a challenging access point up to Uhuru Peak and can be incorporated into various routes on Kilimanjaro.
