Great Reasons To Do Safari Early 2019

Why Safari between January and March?  1. Escape the Crowds! The northern parks in Tanzania are considered Africa's ultimate safari destinations (traditionally), which means that tourist traffic is high. By travelling in the a typical months you can avoid getting stuck in a game viewing traffic jam and having to compete for space at wildlife sightings. Travelling in the less-crowded rainy season makes for a more genuine experience - one that allows you to connect more personally with the wild places and local people of Tanzania. In the low seasons when there are fewer travelers at the game lodges and on the game drives. This will guarantee you or your family and friends a more time and space to appreciate the wildlife and savannahs in harmony and engage with your guide/s and the local people you come across, such as the Maasai, Hadzabe or Chagga people.  2. The baby animals! Approximately 500,000 wildebeest calves are born in a 2 to 3 weeks period between ...

TANZANIA SAFARIS - FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT IS THE BEST SEASON FOR A SAFARI? The most popular seasons are mid December to mid March and July to mid September. This is because of the demand for Christmas and winter holidays and the summer school breaks. An increasing number of visitors are realising that June and October are ideal, benefiting from lower visitor numbers. CAN I HAVE A PRIVATE VEHICLE? Yes. All safaris can be booked with the exclusive use of a vehicle for your party. A custom safari for two clients is significantly more expensive per person than seats on a similar small group safari. However, on a custom safari with an exclusive vehicle, the cost of the vehicle and driver/ guide are divided by the number of clients sharing the vehicle. Therefore, the per person cost of a custom safari reduces the more clients that are sharing the vehicle (maximum in one vehicle is 7). CAN I HAVE MY OWN ITINERARY? If you are arranging an exclusive vehicle (custom) safari, then you are free to arrange whatever itiner...

TANZANIA SAFARI LAUNDRY CONSIDERATIONS

Many camps have laundry facilities, and you can have all your clothing washed. Keep in mind though, that most, if not all, will also iron clothing. This serves a practical purpose, as putsi flies like to lay eggs in damp clothing – ironing kills eggs. If you have any delicate clothing that would be burned or damaged by ironing, be sure to let the staff at your camp know. Most people also prefer to wash their own undergarments, so it can be handy to bring along some liquid hand washing soap for this purpose. THINGS TO AVOID: Jeans are not ideal – they can be too warm during the day, and take long to dry if you are doing laundry – camps will not have drying machines. Don’t pack high heeled or wedged shoes, you won’t be needing them and they’re highly unpractical in a bush situation. When it comes to shoe packing, comfort and durability is what you want. If you are crossing borders on your trip, don’t wear camouflage! Camo clothing tends to draw unwanted attention at border crossi...
